first mono using a shell (2014)
Details: hemp, laminated walnut and oak feet turned on a wood lathe, shell, shower curtain hook (head), silver jewelry, piece of a sweater, yarn,
This is my new favorite piece. My goal was to create a concise color scheme that was outside of my normal palate. I was influenced by the colors of the sea and the artifacts that one can find strolling on a beach: driftwood, old fishing nets, shells, and pieces of discarded metal.
I imagine the shell as either a temporary fix for an injury this mono suffered, or that this mono has carried it with them since birth and its grown to be apart of them.
